LEED Work Experience: Three Ways to Get it: "
Question:
Avkash asks: I am a LEED AP O+M and I was hoping I could have your advice. I am fairly new to the sector and I am curious to know if you may hold an opinion as to where I can gain the best experience to advance myself within the green building industry? Ideally I would like to work with a firm where I will have the ability to work on many diversified projects while having the ability to innovate. Also, do you know of any companies that are expanding or that you recommend I look into further? I have immersed myself in a few projects to develop a firmer grasp on things, namely volunteering as the LEED AP project manager for the local library and volunteering at the local USGBC branch.
I greatly appreciate your time and thank you in advance for your insight.
Hi Avkash,
Thank you for your question. In terms of providing a platform for innovation, working on your own to provide green consulting services to private clients would give you the most leeway to try novel approaches that you develop on your own. However, in order to gain clients, you'll need to establish a track record of delivering efficiency and improved performance to your building clients.
Summary of News:
LEED AP work experience may be gained in a variety of ways including consulting and volunteering.
